The Rental Mechanic is responsible for performing minor to major repairs in accordance with Manufactures guidelines. Additional responsibilities include conducting pre-delivery inspections (PDIs) on Cat Rental and Allied equipment, processing new equipment for Used Cat sales, and facilitating the distribution of new equipment across stores.

Wages

The Rental Mechanic starting wage will depend on experience and education. $33.00 - $38.50

 

Responsibilities

The Rental Mechanic essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform equipment overhauls and refurbishments for resale purposes.
  • Assist with rebuilding, repairing, and maintaining equipment and components.
  • Inspect equipment using the Cat Inspect App.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) services, 90-day BIT inspections, and ANSI inspections.
  • Perform Pre-delivery inspections (PDI) on New Allied Equipment to be facilitate for distribution across all stores.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting and diagnose equipment malfunctions or failures.
  • Troubleshoot equipment using diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Operate equipment and perform functional tests to ensure proper operation.
  • Follow all safety rules and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Understand the operation, function, specifications, capabilities, and controls of all rental equipment.
  • Adhere to directions from the manager and lead mechanic regarding repairs and directions.
  • Accurately complete all documentation related to repairs in a timely manner.
  • Be available to work overtime when needed.
  • Perform other work-related duties as directed or assigned.

Required experience and skills for Rental Mechanic:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instruction
  • Understanding of electrical, hydraulics, engine components
  • Capable of operating construction equipment in a safe manner.
  • Must supply own tools.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged period of time
  • Ability to bend, squat, stand and reach as necessary

Qualifications

One-year certificate or Associates degree from a community college or technical school; Two to four years mechanical experience or equivalent education and experience.
