In this role, you will sell Caterpillar parts, service, and insurance products while building strong customer relationships, generating service leads, and contributing to overall business performance and customer satisfaction.

Wages

This position offers an hourly rate plus commission, with total annual compensation ranging from $70,000 to $90,000.

Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It:

  • Collaborate With Service Teams: Work closely with supervisors, technicians, and coordinators to identify requirements, promote upsell opportunities, and schedule repairs and PMs.
  • Prepare Accurate Quotations: Review service reports and photographs to create detailed and accurate quotes; conduct job walks; coordinate quotes through internal or external vendors.
  • Influence Customer Decisions: Promote recommended repairs, service needs, and CSA inspection findings to support customer equipment reliability.
  • Upsell Electrical/Engineering Services: Recommend Advanced Electrical Services and bundled solutions within CSA contracts.
  • Pursue Business Opportunities: Seek private and government bid opportunities; identify leads using new customer reports, warranty expirations, PIP/Safety letters, CSA data, and product population reports.
  • Resolve Customer Issues: Investigate customer concerns assigned by management and support timely resolution.
  • Act as a Service Liaison: Facilitate communication between customers, technicians, service supervisors, and sales representatives.
  • Ensure Accurate Quoting: Work with technical quoters, management, and company experts to confirm all materials, labor, and support requirements.
  • Build Internal Relationships: Maintain positive, accountable working relationships with sales, service, parts, engineering, vendors, and internal departments.
  • Maintain Product Knowledge: Continuously expand knowledge of equipment, parts, and services through assigned and self‑selected training via Caterpillar’s Dealer Performance Center (DPC).

Qualifications

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Minimum 2 years of related experience and training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar or competitor products in the commercial engine market
  • Ability to learn and perform dealer operations using DBS, TMI, CWS, SalesLink, and IMACS
  • Strong PC skills in Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and internet applications
  • Strong communication, organization, customer service, and follow‑through skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent required (technical trade certification or degree preferred)
  • Valid California driver’s license in good standing
  • Highly motivated self‑starter with strong planning and delegation abilities
