The Machine Service Supervisor has responsibility for managing 20 or more technicians and coordinators while resolving daily service issues. This role schedules technician activities, monitors job progress, and ensures timely and complete repair execution. The supervisor works closely with the Service Manager and Service Coordinators as a key internal resource supporting customer needs.

Mission

The mission of the Machine Service Supervisor is to ensure efficient, safe, and high‑quality service operations through strong leadership, technician development, and effective resource management. This role supports exceptional customer satisfaction by delivering accurate estimates, timely repairs, and clear communication.

 

 

Wages

Wages: $80,153 – $119,092/yr (depending on experience and education)

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Apply detailed knowledge of Caterpillar equipment, warranty processes, and related products.
  • Manage technicians to ensure timely job assignment and scheduling aligned with customer expectations.
  • Collaborate with HR to proactively manage employee relations and support business objectives.
  • Partner with Service Coordinators to provide accurate repair time and cost estimates.
  • Review work orders to ensure all parts and labor are captured according to technician service reports.
  • Ensure technicians are properly trained and equipped for current and future product lines.
  • Complete or assist with technician performance reviews using the PADS process.
  • Oversee service vehicles, ensuring proper maintenance, repairs, cleanliness, and professional presentation.
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment; complete injury reports promptly and accurately.
  • Provide timely customer updates regarding equipment repair status.
  • Serve as interim Service Manager when needed.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, leadership, and people skills.
  • Utilize computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

 

  • Associate degree or certificate in Business or Technical field preferred.
  • 8–10 years of related experience; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with multiple equipment lines (e.g., Caterpillar, Agco) preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and advanced mechanical service knowledge.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
