Wages
Starting wage will depend on experience and education. $39.88 - $60.71
Responsibilities
As a Senior Heavy Equipment Technician, you will perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on Caterpillar and related heavy equipment in a shop environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, engine, and powertrain issues.
Perform major component repairs, rebuilds, disassembly, and reassembly.
Troubleshoot equipment failures using Caterpillar diagnostic software, electronic testing equipment, and technical service information.
Independently perform complex repairs with limited supervision.
Determine appropriate repair procedures and select the proper tools and equipment.
Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and hands-on support to developing technicians.
Collaborate with service supervisors, parts personnel, and other departments to complete repairs efficiently.
Maintain accurate repair documentation and follow established service procedures.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Participate in continued technical training and stay current with Caterpillar products and technology.
Support overtime, alternate shifts, or field assignments as business needs require.
Extensive hands-on experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy equipment.
Senior or Master Technician-level experience with advanced mechanical and electronic diagnostics.
Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, powertrains, and equipment components.
Proven ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex equipment failures.
Experience using Caterpillar diagnostic software or comparable heavy equipment diagnostic systems.
Caterpillar experience preferred; comparable experience with Komatsu, John Deere, Volvo, or other heavy equipment manufacturers is welcomed.
Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and manage repairs in changing field environments.
Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and professional customer interactions.
Ability to maintain required tooling and complete accurate service documentation.
Willingness to travel to customer locations, attend required training, and work overtime when necessary.

Qualifications
One-year certificate or Associates degree from a community college or technical school; Minimum five plus year's of CAT dealer experience and ten year's heavy equipment industry experience or equivalent education and experience.
